I want to book Starlights Strings for my event, how do I proceed?

You can contact us via our online form or phone +44 (0) 870 760589.  We will then send you a booking confirmation with the relevant details.  On return of contract we ask for a £100.00 non-refundable deposit.  The remaining balance will be due two weeks prior to the event.

Shall I opt for a Quartet, Trio or Duo?

From a performing perspective, a Quartet is our recommended choice.  It allows for maximum harmonic and melodic effect and is incredibly versatile with regard to playing various genres of music and styles.  If space is an issue or you are working to a smaller budget then a Trio may be a more suitable option.  We would only recommend a Duo for particularly intimate occasions.  The most satisfying Duo combination, in our opinion, is created by the flute and violin.

The Musician's playing times?

The musicians will play according to the times specified on your booking confirmation.  And if, for example, you wish to have pre-ceremony music this will have to be included within these times.  We aim to arrive up to an hour before the start time to set up - (this is not included in your booking time).  The musicians will take up to ten minutes break per hour as performing is physically demanding.  However, if your event has natural pauses such as speeches then we will endeavour to work around this.

What is the Musician's dress code?

Unless otherwise requested, we ask the Ladies to wear long black dresses or suits and the Gentleman will be dressed in black shirts and trousers.

Where do you travel?

It is customary for a musician to expect to travel.  Our Prices and Travelling page provides information about travelling in London and the home counties.  Please contact us for a quote outside this zone.

Can you play to us before we book?

Logistically and financially this really is not an option.  Nearly all of our events are private, however, our players can regularly be seen playing in London's elite orchestras.  Our audio samples reflect the true talents of our musicians.
